Hello all, things are going really strong around here lately, with lots of events cropping up. Though I figure I push the promotion at you so much, I want to take just a minute to thank you all for coming to the events, spreading the word, and really getting involved in the local Art, Music, and Lit scene. This year, 2015, has be record attendance on average fro every show this year, and over all attendance is us aprox. 12% at the music shows. We have also seen a large movement of interest in Art in our area, and look to see more of the local writers getting more exposure coming soon. So please keep tuned in, and if there is somewhere you would like to see us posting event information to help you be able to get notified, please let me know so I can make arrangements to make it happen if at all possible. Thanks again, and see you all very soon at one for the six events that I will be involved in through the month of October.
Pretty neat cup at Murphy's Grill! See you there soon!

Giants, Dragons, Heroes, and Apes

After the arrival of the twentieth year for Dangerous Doug Harper things promise to change to something different, better, brighter, and more exciting than what has previously been. We found ourselves in the driveway to a small three bedroom house on Clay Street in Nevada, MO. It was the eve of the NEW year as Dangerous Doug loaded up the backseat of the car with his guitar and other gear that was needed, then readied himself for the awaiting gig. In the near distance an unusual fog slowly drifted in. An alarming sound of shrieking coming from a nearly nine foot giant man. “Get down!” he now shrieked a second time. Promptly Dangerous Doug obliged the shrieking request and dropped to the ground with out a second thought to the quite unusual giant man. A flying, spinning, sharp, and silver axe just missed hitting Doug in the head, and stuck into the side of the nearby house just beside a window still proudly displaying a festive Christmas tree, with flashing lights. “Who’s there?, ...

Ashlee and Doug’s Casual Wedding

The happy couple have decided to join together in marriage! Recently the two have been engaged and plan to make a home together with their wonderful 9 month old daughter Rylee. They will be having a small casual dress wedding prior to their moving into the new home together. The event will be followed a few months later with a more official formal event (date still to be announced) but they are eager to unite just as the NEW year begins setting the stage for a long and happy life together. The casual wedding event will be held at the Christ Church of Nevada, MO located at 301 South Main Street, behind McDonalds, and will take place at 7 PM. If you would like to attend just show up, no RSVP is needed, and remember that it is casual dress.
Happy New year everyone! I recently discovered that I was hitting the 20 year mark as being a musician and I realized that I have so much more to do. So I have been slacking on my blogging this last year so here we go... I hope to update you all at least once a month (time permitting of course), and fuse our lives together a little bit more. Let us catch up. Most of the last year was spent working on the movie that I have written and will be producing that is surrounded by my hometown of Nevada, Missouri and is titled "Becoming the Heartbeat". The movie is set to be out around the ides of March. My first child was born on March 14, Rylee Olivia, and has been a blessing ever since. She is an inspiration to my music projects, as well as just all around fun to be around, as well as her Mother is too! There have been a few gigs this year, though I did not play any with Marci Mitchell, as the summer festival was the same week as a film fest when she played Nevada this year, ...

Dear faithful web page and e-mail zine readers:

It is time to get you all updated on what is new in the life of me, your good friend “Dangerous” Doug Harper. It has been awhile since I really gave you all a really good and detailed update. Now it is time to do that, by getting right down to business. My main project right now is Bru Java at the Maranatha Christian Fellowship. It is going very well and growing every week. Come out and visit Bru Java on Thursday nights from 7 until 11 PM, we always have lots of fun. Bru Java features music, food, and great people. You already know about the Local Ear, but stop by at our new web page at www.localear.tk. Between taking care of marketing for several businesses, these and other websites that I update, playing music, Church activities, and other work obligations, I stay very active and rarely sleep (seriously), but it is all worth it. I love getting to have that moment of satisfaction each time I get to produce great products, great music, and make great friendships through Jesus Christ...

if prayer should be allowed in school, then should not all religions be allowed in school as well? Is it truly the "Christian" way to force people to follow based on laws of the government? Isn't "Christianity" a choice that people make, not a set of laws they are forced to follow? in the light of columbine, is it not true that every person is a product of some system? and if so, why would people choose to follow a system that envokes segregation (homosexuals, and other religions), conservative government (which means it is not a choice, thus just as invalid as sinning), and has produced countless murders over the centuries in the name of everything from holy land to God "blessing" OUR troops/murders and OUR country, as if God would even choose any country to "side with" at all. If God blesses "our" troops and "our" country, then God should be blessing iraq, afghanistan, panama, japan,...

An update from Sweet Willie D

Hi, Blues Fans, This was a good gig week. We had the usual full house at Mo & Waldo's on Friday, and had several folks jam with us. There was Jeff on a Strat, Kevin on trumpet, Harmonica John, our very good pal, Adrienne Lee on mouth harp, and Debbie on tambourine. No vocalists came forward, so the only break I got was when Fat Daddie sang "Hey, Joe"!!! Fat Daddie, old boy, you'd better keep your day job. Speaking of Fat Daddie's day job, Barb and I just got a new (to us) car through his salesmanship. Bruce needs to work with Fat Daddie, too, as he broke down we hear, and couldn't be with us on keyboards on Friday or Saturday. We missed you, buddy. And, you missed all the pretty young thangs!! What no one missed were those not ready for primetime jokes of yours!!!! Saturday we played the blues at Simon's on the Waterfront in Hermann. This is the second gig for us there. I'm telling you, this is a club you want to try to make sometime. T...
